About  Susan

Kalamazoo, Michigan area artist Susan Teague received her A.S. in Liberal Arts from Kalamazoo Valley Community College and B.S. in Fine Art from Western Michigan University in the early 1970s. Her post graduate studies were in Art Education, Speech and Theater, and Creative Expression at Murray State University and the University of Kentucky at Lexington. Her art studies have included training with nationally recognized artists, Jack Beal, Michael Berger, and Martha Meyer Erlebacher.

 

Susan’s paintings and drawings have consistently won awards and recognition over the past decades. Her artistic career lists more than 70 plus national and regional competitions and exhibitions, and 50 solo shows. She has been credited with more than 100 personal interviews regionally and across the country in television, radio, press, magazines, and publications for her accomplishments as an artist, book illustrator, and workshop presenter. Susan’s artwork can be found in private and public facilities, churches, and schools in Michigan, Kentucky, Hawaii, Florida and the West Coast. Four original artworks from her exhibition, "Goddesses Galore" were acquired  by the Orlando, Florida “Ripley’s Believe It Or Not” for their permanent collection.

 

Southwest Michigan knows her most for the 9,000 sq. ft. of painted murals at the New Bronson Children’s Hospital. Susan was selected as one of the top three inspirational stories of 2001, 2002 and 2012 by Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids television news stations for her journey through end stages of cancer while painting the murals.

 

Susan continues to share her creative insights and artistic knowledge in the classroom, workshop settings and in the warm hearth of her art studio.
